Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the relationship between pathogen reduced RBCs and HLA allommunization risk.
  • Understand if PRT-PLTs are non-inferior to PAS-PLTs in cardiac surgery patients with respect to correction of MA.
  • Define clinical outcomes with respect to blood component utilization and chest tube drainage between PRT-PLTs and PAS-PLTs.
  • Outline the benefits of using Pathogen Reduced Cryoprecipitated Fibrinogen Complex, Intercept Fibrinogen Complex in a transfusion medicine service.
  • Describe the incidence of treatment emergent antibodies with specificity for PRRBCs.
