Dr. Jian Chen received his medical degree from Shandong Medical University and a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completion of his residency in clinical pathology and fellowship in transfusion medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital, he started practicing transfusion medicine at the Ohio State University and then Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center. He is currently an associate professor of Clinical Pathology at Weill Cornell Medical College and a co-director of transfusion service at Houston Methodist Hospital. His primary clinical duties included apheresis service, immunohematology consultation, blood bank administration, coagulation consultation and clinical chemistry consultation. Dr. Chen has a strong interest in pursuing clinical and translational research in the field of transfusion medicine and coagulation.
