Hamilton C. Tsang, M.D. is Associate Medical Director for the Transfusion Service Laboratories at the University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center, and a UW assistant professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine. He oversees transfusion practices and provides consultation for patients with special transfusion needs. He has a strong interest in information technology and improving the quality of the transfusion service at the University of Washington.
Dr. Tsang earned his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles and his medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical pathology with Weill-Cornell Medicine at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, and his fellowship in Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking at Stanford University. The scope of Dr. Tsang’s work at Stanford and Cornell has combined clinical service, trainee education, and quality improvement. He is particularly interested in quality improvement through technological innovations and informatics solutions. Dr. Tsang's clinical interests include clinical research in transfusion reactions and transfusion support for bleeding disorders. Additionally, his research interests include transfusion support and characterization of hematologic malignancy, adverse events related to transfusion, and informatics solutions for laboratory medicine.
